Welcome to The Chain Effect. We are building a network through empowered stories - a simple conversation that we hope send ripples across a community of Tres J adorenees'. Our goal is to spark connectivity through conversation, invite curiosity and celebrate confidence. We are so delighted to share Kat Jan's story with you all.
JJJ: Alright Kat, where are you from?
Kat: Dallas, Texas REP
JJJ: Kat, we all have our 9-to-5s. What's your passion project or hobby that keeps you busy?

Kat: Outside of my 9-5, I have been enjoying knitting and reading books. It's fun to keep my hands busy as I watch new shows and movies - my most recent project is knitting a chunky bag. As for books, I typically reach for memoirs & historical fiction, but have been getting recommended more romance fantasy (SO to JJ for getting me into Fourth Wing). My most recent reads are I'll Be Gone in the Dark, Pachinko, and the Fourth Wing books. As for movies, I've been watching more classics like Oldboy and Se7en.
JJJ: One of our hopes for Tres J, is for your Tres J piece to help empower you to take on challenges you haven't tried before. What challenge is your Tres J piece empowering you to take on?
Kat: My Tres J piece empowers me to stay strong and carry self-confidence in my day-to-day life. In moments of doubt or difficulty, I am reminded to keep moving forward one step at a time.
JJJ: Tell us a little more about you. What brings you joy?
Kat: The little things - lately, I've been trying to romanticize the small things. With my days shaped by the rhythm of my 9-5 routine. I've grown more appreciative of the simple things like eating at my favorite restaurants, long phone calls with friends, a movie marathon...it's the little things that matter.
JJJ: And what's a piece of advice you might want to give someone who is looking to build new community?
Kat: A little kindness goes a long way. You never really know what someone might be going through and even a small act of kindness can leave a lasting impression.
JJJ: So many of us have cherished moments attached to certain pieces of jewelry. What's a special memory about a piece that you'd like to share?
Kat: A special memory I hold close is when my father gifted my sister and I matching necklaces. When my sister moved to Hong Kong, my necklace became a constant reminder to me that no matter the distance or how busy life gets, we're always connected.
JJJ: Some of our best friendships and relationships are formed through serendipitous moments. How does serendipity play a role in your life?
Kat: It's in those moments of reflection when you realize that the choices and decisions you've made have led you to meet people who change the trajectory of your life.
JJJ: What is the title of the current chapter you are in?
Kat: "One Step At A Time"
JJJ: Who is your style inspiration?
Kat: Skyelar Chase
JJJ: Name 3 restaurants or cafes that you are currently loving.
Kat: Quarter Acre, Moxies, Sister
JJJ: If your favorite Tres J piece was a dessert, what would it be and why?
Kat: Matcha tiramisu - classic and timeless with a creative spin.
JJJ: Let's hear your current obsessions.
Kat: Currently on repeat: "Aviation" by The Last Shadow Puppets, Beauty: Westman Atelier's Highlighter Stick in Nectar, Something that I like to look at: Destruction, 1836. Thomas Cole., Recipe: Enzoni
